United Airlines Expands Flights to Asia and Australia

United Airlines is expanding its international network by launching new flights to several destinations in Asia and Australia. These additions will enhance travel options and improve connectivity between North America and key cities abroad.

Starting October 26, United will be the only U.S. airline to offer daily flights to Bangkok, Thailand, and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Operating on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, these flights aim to meet the rising demand for travel to these locations.

Bangkok invites visitors to explore cultural landmarks such as Wat Phra Kaew and Wat Arun. The city blends tradition with modern attractions like Lumpini Park, bustling night markets, and a renowned food scene offering specialties such as mango sticky rice and boat noodles.

Ho Chi Minh City presents a mix of history and contemporary experiences. Travelers can visit sites like the Saigon Opera House and Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica, navigate the streets by scooter, and sample Vietnamese cuisine at open-air pho stalls. The city’s microbrewery scene continues to gain popularity among locals and tourists.

New Route to Adelaide and Expanded Manila Service

On December 11, United will introduce nonstop flights between the U.S. and Adelaide, Australia. This three-times-weekly seasonal service from San Francisco will use a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. United now provides direct flights to four major Australian cities, including Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne.

Adelaide attracts visitors with its scenic surroundings and renowned wine regions like Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale. The area offers natural beauty at Kangaroo Island, fresh produce from Adelaide Central Markets, and vibrant local culture.

Travelers to the Philippines will also have more options with United’s expanded service to Manila. Beginning October 25, United will operate two daily flights between San Francisco and Manila, providing greater flexibility with both daytime and evening departures. This route will be served by a Boeing 777-300ER.

With these new flights, United will now serve 32 cities in the Pacific region, more than any other U.S. airline. The company continues to strengthen its global reach, accommodating millions of travelers annually.

“At United, we’re changing the way people think about where they travel – by offering the greatest access to see and explore the world, whether it’s for relaxation, adventure or business,” said Patrick Quayle, Senior Vice President, Global Network Planning and Alliances at United. “We offer more than the best schedule and travel options – we connect customers to sought after destinations and opportunities to explore new, vibrant cities.”

United currently operates approximately 500 daily flights to 150 international destinations. This expansion reinforces the airline’s commitment to providing travelers with more options and better connectivity. It is also preparing for its Summer 2025 schedule, first announced in October.
