SAS to Launch Direct Flights Between Copenhagen and Seoul

SAS has announced a new direct route connecting Copenhagen and Seoul, set to begin operations on September 12, 2024. This service, the first-ever regular connection between Scandinavia and South Korea, marks a major milestone in expanding SAS’s intercontinental network. Both Copenhagen and Seoul will benefit from this new route.

The route will initially operate four times per week, utilizing Airbus A350-900 aircraft. During the winter season, the frequency will reduce to three flights per week. With the addition of this route, SAS will now serve 14 intercontinental destinations from its Copenhagen base, including the new connection to Seoul.

Strengthening Ties with SkyTeam

The new Copenhagen-Seoul connection enhances the airline’s collaboration with SkyTeam alliance member Korean Air, which operates from its hub in Seoul. SAS joined the SkyTeam alliance in September 2023 following a restructuring under US Chapter 11 protection, supported by investments from Air France-KLM Group. Adding this route aligns with SAS’s strategy to link Copenhagen with Seoul.

SAS Chief Executive Anko van der Werff highlighted the importance of the new route, stating, “This route further strengthens the seamless connectivity we provide, linking Scandinavia to key destinations across the globe, including this connection between Copenhagen and Seoul.”

Expanding Long-Haul Connectivity

With the introduction of the Copenhagen-Seoul route, SAS reinforces its focus on connecting Scandinavia to key international markets. This new service caters to the increasing demand for direct flights between Europe and Asia, benefiting both business and leisure travelers. The route will likely attract many travelers between Copenhagen and Seoul.

The choice of Airbus A350-900 aircraft ensures a modern, efficient, and comfortable travel experience. The airline continues to prioritize customer needs while building strategic partnerships to offer enhanced global connectivity.

This development marks another step in SAS’s efforts to expand its global presence, emphasizing its role in connecting Scandinavia to important global destinations, with particular attention to Copenhagen and Seoul.
