Ryanair Expands Belfast Summer Schedule

Ryanair Expands Belfast Summer Schedule

Ryanair announced its Belfast Summer 2025 schedule on Wednesday, February 26th. The schedule includes 19 routes, featuring a new route to Kaunas, Lithuania. It also increases flight frequencies to popular destinations like Malaga, Alicante, and Malta. The airline’s growth in Belfast includes two based aircraft, representing a $200 million investment. Ryanair supports over 1,000 local jobs and promotes tourism in Northern Ireland.

“Ryanair could be growing more rapidly to/from Belfast and the wider UK, but Rachel Reeves’ bizarre decision to raise APD taxes by £2 per passenger damages these growth prospects, and in particular regional UK airports,” said Ryanair’s Chief Marketing Officer Dara Brady. “If the UK Govt. wants to deliver growth, they should abolish their penal and damaging APD tax, which makes the UK uncompetitive when EU countries like Sweden, Hungary, Ireland, and regions in Italy are abolishing aviation taxes, and winning dramatic traffic, tourism, and jobs growth from the UK.”

Ryanair continues to invest in Belfast. However, they believe that the UK’s Air Passenger Duty (APD) tax increase hinders regional connectivity and tourism. The airline argues that this tax makes the UK less competitive compared to other European countries that are reducing or abolishing aviation taxes. They urge UK policymakers to reconsider the APD tax to stimulate growth and support regional airports.

Belfast International Airport Welcomes Ryanair Expansion

“Since returning to Belfast International Airport, Ryanair has offered local passengers greater choice and connectivity with fantastic routes on offer. Today’s announcement that they will deliver 19 routes over the summer period including the new summer route to Kaunas in Lithuania only grows this offering,” said Belfast International Airport’s CEO, Dan Owens. “The additional flights to Alicante, Krakow and London strengthen Ryanair’s presence in Northern Ireland and is warmly welcomed by all.”

Ryanair’s expansion demonstrates its commitment to providing affordable travel options and increasing connectivity for passengers in Belfast. The new schedule offers travelers more choices and convenient connections for their summer holidays.
