Royal Jordanian Airlines has announced the launch of direct flights between Amman and Washington, D.C., beginning March 23, 2025. This new route will connect Jordan’s capital with Washington’s Dulles International Airport (IAD), marking the airline’s fourth direct service to the United States.
The Amman-Washington route will operate twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Sundays, using the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. The aircraft features 24 business class seats and 246 economy class seats, ensuring a comfortable travel experience for passengers. Royal Jordanian CEO Samer Majali described the route as a “milestone” in the airline’s global expansion efforts.
“Our upcoming first flight between the two capitals, Washington, D.C., and Amman, marks a significant milestone in RJ’s global expansion strategy, making this the fourth U.S. city we fly directly to,” Majali said in a press release.
Royal Jordanian currently operates flights from Amman to three U.S. destinations: New York (JFK), Chicago O’Hare (ORD), and Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW). The addition of Washington, D.C., strengthens its presence in North America and provides a new gateway for travelers.
The Only Direct Service on This Route
Royal Jordanian will be the sole airline offering direct flights between Amman and Washington. United Airlines previously operated on this route but suspended its service in August 2024, citing tensions in the Middle East.
The new route aims to enhance connectivity between the two nations, improving trade, tourism, and investment opportunities. The direct flights will also provide seamless connections for travelers to destinations in the Gulf, Levant, and North Africa.
“By linking these two dynamic markets, we aim to stimulate tourism, trade, and investment opportunities,” Majali explained. “This connection provides seamless connectivity to the Gulf, Levant, and North Africa, reinforcing our commitment to providing exceptional service and connecting people across the globe, aligning with RJ’s five-year expansion strategy.”
Royal Jordanian sees this new route as a way to foster stronger ties between Jordan and the United States. The direct service between Amman and Washington will not only cater to leisure and business travelers but also promote cultural exchange and collaboration. The airline expects the new route to facilitate investment and economic growth in both countries.
