PAL and Qatar Airways enter into strategic partnership

Philippine Airlines and Qatar Airways have started a new partnership that will increase flight options between Manila and Doha. The two carriers aim to provide better travel access for passengers flying from the Philippines to Qatar and beyond. This partnership opens more travel connections, especially to destinations in Africa, the Americas, Central Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. It also helps connect travelers to other cities in both airlines’ networks.

Starting on June 16, 2025, PAL will fly daily nonstop from Manila to Doha. Qatar Airways will codeshare on these seven weekly flights during the initial stage of the partnership. PAL will use its Airbus A330-300 aircraft for these flights. The plane has 18 flat-bed seats in Business Class and 341 seats in Economy Class.

Improved Flight Schedule and Travel Options

PAL’s daily flight will leave Manila at 6:50 PM and arrive in Doha at 11:40 PM. This schedule will allow passengers arriving in Doha to easily transfer to more than 170 destinations offered by Qatar Airways. Those traveling from Doha to Manila can take a PAL flight departing Doha at 1:30 AM. This flight will arrive at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila by 4:15 PM.

Travelers connecting through Hamad International Airport will benefit from one of the most modern airports in the Middle East. Skytrax recently named Hamad International Airport as the best in the region in 2025, giving passengers comfort and smooth transitions.

PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Captain Stanley K. Ng said: “As Philippine Airlines expands its presence across the globe, we are delighted to forge new alliances that build new connections and give our business and leisure passengers more flexibility and seamless access in flying to their desired destinations.” He added: “Our decision to offer daily frequency to Doha is enabled by our exciting strategic partnership with Qatar Airways and will help us stimulate tourism, trade flows and business growth in the context of the strong bilateral relationship between the Philippines and Qatar. Our vital Overseas Filipino Workers and their families will also greatly benefit from this new partnership.”

Expanding Cooperation Between Airlines

Qatar Airways also shared its support for the collaboration. Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer Mr. Thierry Antinori stated: “At Qatar Airways, we continue to explore opportunities that strengthen our connectivity across the world, and our latest partnership with Philippine Airlines is a testament to this commitment. This strategic cooperation also aims to deepen the socio-economic ties between the Qatari and Filipino communities. We are proud of the new codeshare flights and look forward to delivering increased benefits to global travelers.”

Beyond the codeshare agreement, both airlines plan to work together in other areas. They will look into additional shared destinations and combine their frequent flyer programs. This cooperation aims to give more value to their passengers and improve travel convenience.

This new partnership offers passengers from both countries more travel options and better schedules. It also supports ongoing travel demand and builds stronger ties between the two carriers.

The flights will run every day using PAL’s long-haul aircraft, creating consistent and reliable travel between Manila and Doha.
