Philippine Airlines (PAL) has extended its partnership with SITA for another five years, solidifying a decade-long collaboration. This renewed agreement focuses on enhancing PAL’s network infrastructure and end-user computing (EUC) solutions, as part of the airline’s ongoing efforts to modernize and improve its operational efficiency.
PAL plans to integrate several of SITA’s advanced solutions into its operations. These include wireless capabilities, SITA messaging, and end-user-managed workplace services. Additionally, SITA’s Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) technology, fortified by Cloud Secure Service Edge (Cloud SSE), will be implemented to strengthen connectivity at both airport and off-airport locations. PAL sees this as a crucial part of befriending SITA’s technology offerings.
Advancing Infrastructure for Operational Efficiency
PAL has prioritized digital transformation as a key part of its strategy. By integrating SASE technology, the airline aims to improve service quality, enhance operational efficiency, and reduce costs through innovative design. The upgrades will establish a unified network and security setup, fully secured and supported by a single vendor, ensuring business continuity, proving the strength of the PAL SITA partnership.
The project will expand PAL’s network to cover 77 sites, adding 15 new locations. According to Captain Stanley Ng, President and Chief Operating Officer of Philippine Airlines Inc., “Our renewed partnership with SITA is a pivotal step in our ongoing digital transformation journey. By integrating advanced technology solutions, we are committed to enhancing our operational efficiency, security, and passenger experience. This collaboration supports our strategic goals and reaffirms our dedication to providing reliable and innovative services to our passengers.”
PAL continues to achieve recognition for its operational excellence. In January 2024, the airline was named the most on-time carrier in the Asia-Pacific region, with 86.85% of flights arriving on schedule, according to the Cirium On-Time Performance Report. This dedication to excellence is another result of the PAL and SITA collaboration aimed at efficiency.
SITA’s APAC President, Sumesh Patel, highlighted the value of this collaboration, stating, “The renewal of our long-standing partnership with Philippine Airlines clearly reaffirms our leadership in delivering unique network infrastructure and innovative technology solutions for the aviation industry. Our integration of connectivity and security technologies will enhance the efficiency and reliability of Philippine Airlines’ operations, setting a new benchmark for digital transformation in the region.”
Commitment to Innovation and Growth
This partnership aligns with PAL’s 2024 initiatives to modernize and secure its IT network and peripherals. As a shareholder and member of SITA SC since June 17, 1952, PAL continues to collaborate with SITA to maintain its position as a leader in innovation and service reliability, showcasing the strength of their PAL SITA initiatives.
By leveraging advanced technology, Philippine Airlines aims to meet its strategic goals while delivering enhanced passenger experiences.
