Philippine Airlines (PAL) is making it easier to explore the Philippines this summer. The airline is expanding its Cebu hub network, adding more flights and increasing the number of seats available. This expansion aims to meet the increased travel demand during the peak summer months.
“We invite travelers to make the most of the peak summer season by flying to these exciting destinations from Mactan-Cebu, our growing hub in the Central Philippines. These additional flights and greater seat capacity reflect our flag carrier’s commitment to increase connectivity, to boost the economy, and help drive tourism across our inter-island network from Cebu,” said PAL Express President Rabbi Vincent Ang.
PAL’s Cebu network already provides 11 daily flights to Manila. The airline also offers new connections from Catarman to Cebu, with three weekly flights. This connection provides residents of Samar with improved access to Cebu and the Central Visayas region.
More Flights to Top Destinations
PAL is increasing the number of flights to some of the country’s most popular island destinations.
- Flights from Cebu to Boracay will increase from 14 to 21 weekly.
- Flights from Cebu to Siargao will increase from 18 to 26 weekly.
PAL is also expanding its services to and from Palawan.
- Flights between Cebu and Puerto Princesa will increase from 7 to 14 weekly.
- Flights between Cebu and Coron (Busuanga) will increase from 14 to 17 weekly.
In addition to these island destinations, PAL is also adding flights to other cities.
- Flights between Cebu and Tacloban will increase to 14 weekly.
- Flights between Cebu and Davao will increase to 29 weekly.
PAL is using larger aircraft on some routes from its Cebu hub. This includes using 199-seater Airbus A321s instead of 86-seater De Havilland Dash 8-400 NGs. The combination of added flights and larger aircraft will increase PAL’s weekly seat capacity to and from Cebu by over 39,000 seats. This represents a 17% increase in capacity.
What This Means for Travelers
These expanded services from the Cebu hub offer travelers more flexibility when planning their summer trips. They provide a wider range of flight options to destinations like Boracay, Coron, Siargao, and Palawan. Furthermore, travelers across the Philippines will have better access to Cebu, which serves as both a thriving business center and a gateway to popular resorts and tourism heritage sites.
PAL is also growing its international flight offerings from its Cebu hub. The airline introduced Cebu – Osaka flights in December 2024 and is scheduled to begin Cebu – Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) flights in May 2025. PAL also connects Cebu to Tokyo Narita and Seoul Incheon.
PAL’s expanded Cebu hub is part of the airline’s ongoing effort to improve connectivity, support tourism growth, and stimulate local economies.
