PAL Aviation School Reopens to Train New Batch of Pilots

Philippine Airlines (PAL) will reopen its PAL Aviation School to train a new batch of pilots. This is made possible through a new partnership with Airways Aviation Group. The collaboration aims to improve pilot training in the Philippines using global standards. Airways Aviation, based in Australia, was chosen after a full evaluation for its proven methods and its strong focus on safety. This plan supports PAL’s goals for better operations, safety, and pilot development. The PAL Aviation School program also uses local and international resources to help students become skilled and confident professionals.

The new partnership will help develop future pilots through a structured training program. Students will start with basic training and assessments in the Philippines. After this, they will continue their training in Australia. There, they will study aviation theory and complete practical flying lessons. Airways Aviation’s campuses in Australia will provide access to up-to-date tools, expert teachers, and real flight experience.

Building pilot careers through global training

According to PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Capt. Stanley K. Ng, “Airways Aviation met our stringent requirements and demonstrated their robust emphasis on safety culture and competency-based training methodologies.” He added that PAL believes in the value of internal training to develop pilots who have the skills and mindset to face future challenges.

Carlos Luis Fernandez said, “Our revitalized Aviation School will help develop this vital workforce: individuals who are not only outstanding in their craft but also globally minded citizens committed to building a sustainable future for aviation.” He described the partnership as a move that joins the expertise of both groups.

This collaboration between the PAL Aviation School and Airways Aviation Group also strengthens ties between the Philippines and Australia in education and pilot development. Both countries play a role in creating a more skilled and safer group of aviation workers. Airways Aviation Group Founder and Chairman Romy Hawatt said, “We are honoured to be selected as the official training provider for the next generation of Philippine Airlines pilots.” He added, “This partnership is not only a recognition of our global training capabilities, but a testament to the shared values and vision that bind our two organizations.
