Philippine Airlines (PAL) has launched a new partnership with Alaska Airlines that expands flight options and rewards benefits for travelers. The collaboration aims to provide more convenience for members of both airlines’ frequent flyer programs, with the shared goal of making travel between the Philippines and the United States more accessible and flexible.
Under this partnership, members of PAL’s Mabuhay Miles and Alaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan will soon have the ability to earn and redeem miles across both networks. This new rewards link is expected to take effect in the next few months, opening new possibilities for travelers who frequently fly between the two countries.
PAL Vice President for Marketing Alvin M. Miranda expressed confidence in the partnership. “We are proud to partner with Alaska Airlines to deliver even greater value to our Mabuhay Miles members,” he said. “This strategic collaboration significantly expands our network and flight options, enabling our Mabuhay Miles members to enjoy enhanced connectivity and flexibility in how and where they use their miles. It’s an exciting step forward in enriching the overall travel experience we offer.”

Frequent flyers from both programs will gain more flexibility when traveling. Mabuhay Miles members will be able to earn miles on eligible Alaska Airlines flights. Likewise, Mileage Plan members will be able to collect miles when they fly on eligible PAL routes. Travelers will benefit from smoother journeys across various destinations.
Better access to U.S. cities through seamless links
With this development, PAL and Alaska Airlines will provide smoother connections through key U.S. gateways, including Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Honolulu. PAL customers will gain better access to Alaska Airlines’ wide domestic route network, which includes destinations not directly served by PAL.
Andrew Harrison, chief commercial officer of Alaska Airlines, shared the importance of the tie-up. “Philippine Airlines is a terrific addition to our roster of global airlines offering world-class service and amenities,” he said. “The large Filipino communities living in Hawaii, California and Washington state can travel on Philippine Airlines’ long-haul, widebody aircraft and soon earn valuable Mileage Plan miles on their transpacific journeys.”
PAL’s nonstop flights between the Philippines and major U.S. cities will become even more valuable for travelers seeking flexible connections beyond those cities. The airline offers direct flights to New York JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and Honolulu, giving passengers a range of entry points into the U.S.

Exploring further cooperation and codeshare options
As part of future developments, both airlines are studying the possibility of reciprocal codesharing. This may allow each carrier to sell seats on the other’s flights, providing more travel options to customers across important cities in both networks. If implemented, this next step would further improve connectivity between the Philippines and the U.S.
This partnership also builds on PAL’s existing agreement with Hawaiian Airlines, a member of the Alaska Airlines Group. PAL will continue offering Hawaiian Airlines codeshare flights to destinations such as Maui, Hilo, Kona, and Lihue via Honolulu. In turn, Hawaiian Airlines customers will soon be able to earn and redeem miles on PAL flights using their Mileage Plan number.

PAL, which operates as the Philippines’ only full-service airline, views strategic partnerships as an important part of its efforts to grow in the U.S. market. The airline continues to strengthen its services by working with American carriers, offering more seamless and flexible travel experiences for passengers.
Through this cooperation with Alaska Airlines, PAL aims to make travel easier for passengers connecting to more destinations across the U.S., while giving loyal flyers more ways to earn and use their rewards.
This latest move supports PAL’s commitment to grow its transpacific operations, improve traveler benefits, and extend its reach across the United States.
