It is crucial for airlines to continuously adapt to the changing aviation landscape. The days of complacency are long gone. Airlines are constantly innovating their business models and making adjustments to meet passenger preferences. Oman Air has recently launched a new series of all-Economy Class aircraft, named “Oman Air Connect.”
This initiative is part of the airline’s ongoing transformation to align with evolving travel demands. However, it is still uncertain whether this will be a “low-cost” subsidiary of Oman Air, as that information has not been clearly stated.
Five Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets will be added to Oman Air’s fleet, operating routes across the Indian Subcontinent, Middle East, and Africa. The first aircraft with this all-Economy Class setup recently joined the airline, enhancing connectivity and providing more travel options for passengers, particularly those looking at Oman Air’s all-economy focus.
Oman Air has traditionally operated the Boeing 737 MAX 8 with a two-class configuration, including 12 Business Class seats and 150 Economy Class seats. The new single-class layout is expected to accommodate at least 168 passengers while maintaining onboard comfort. Economy seats feature a 10.2-inch HD touchscreen in-flight entertainment system, ensuring an enjoyable travel experience aboard Oman Air’s all-economy aircraft.

Con Korfiatis, Oman Air’s CEO, stated, “The way people travel has evolved, with greater accessibility and choice. At the same time, passengers still want to enjoy a comfortable journey. With this all-Economy fleet, we are adapting to these changing needs, providing our guests with more flexibility and choice without compromising on quality.”
Fleet Development and Strategic Growth
Oman Air has been working on a financial transformation plan since 2023, focusing on improving operations and achieving profitability. This initiative includes optimizing the airline’s fleet, adjusting its network, and strengthening its overall strategy.
Oman Air relies on the Boeing 787-9 for long-haul travel, while the Boeing 737 MAX continues to serve regional destinations. The airline is also preparing to officially join the oneworld alliance on June 30, 2025, marking a major milestone after its initial announcement in June 2022, further supporting the Oman Air all-economy expansion strategy. As part of its expansion, Oman Air expects multiple aircraft deliveries in 2025, including both widebody and narrowbody models. In addition, the airline is planning upgrades in in-flight entertainment and connectivity.
At the end of 2024, Oman Air rebranded its First Class cabin as the “Business Studio.” As demand shifts away from ultra-premium services, this change allows business travelers to experience an upgraded Business Class option with a 1-2-1 seat layout.
