KLM Completes Premium Comfort Class Rollout Across Fleet

KLM Completes Premium Comfort Class Rollout Across Fleet

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has successfully introduced its new Premium Comfort Class across all its Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft, marking a major development in its onboard product offerings. This new class caters to the needs of both business and leisure travelers, providing a middle ground between Economy Class and World Business Class.

Premium Comfort Class is now available on KLM’s long-haul flights, offering passengers more space, luxury, and privacy compared to Economy Class but at a more affordable price than World Business Class. Barry ter Voert, Chief Experience Officer at KLM, shared positive feedback from passengers, saying, “Passengers specifically mention having more comfort and tastier meals. That exactly matches our intentions.”

This new offering introduces its own dedicated cabin, complete with specially designed seats and exclusive service. Depending on the aircraft, the Premium Comfort Class cabin features 21 to 28 seats. Passengers can enjoy wider seats with more legroom, larger screens, and footrests. The seats also recline more compared to those in Economy Class, adding to the enhanced comfort.

Aircraft Refitting and Enhanced Business Class Features

The transformation of KLM’s fleet to include Premium Comfort Class has been a two-year effort. The airline’s maintenance team completed the refitting of all Boeing 787 aircraft a year and a half ago, with each installation taking between four and sixteen days per plane. This work continued with the Boeing 777 aircraft, culminating in the completion of 54 planes equipped with the new class.

KLM also used this opportunity to upgrade its World Business Class seats during the conversion of the Boeing 777 aircraft. The new seats feature sliding doors for added privacy and comfort, along with direct aisle access for all passengers.

Meeting Passenger Preferences

KLM’s introduction of Premium Comfort Class is a response to growing passenger demand for more tailored travel options. Passengers now have an additional choice when booking tickets, alongside Economy and World Business Class. The airline has noted a strong positive reception from travelers, with feedback highlighting the enhanced comfort and upgraded meal service.

The addition of Premium Comfort Class strengthens KLM’s competitive edge in the long-haul market by providing an option that bridges the gap between luxury and affordability. With this rollout, KLM reaffirms its commitment to evolving its services in line with passenger expectations.
