Gulfstream completions facility in St Louis finally done

Gulfstream Aerospace has completed the expansion of its aircraft completions facility at St. Louis Downtown Airport, marking another step in its broader growth plan. A formal ceremony on May 2, 2025, opened the new space, which now allows full interior outfitting for Gulfstream aircraft at the St. Louis location.

“This St. Louis facility expansion is a continuation of our company-wide growth strategy to support the production of Gulfstream’s industry-leading fleet,” said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream. “It positions our team to further support completions of our next-generation aircraft for customers all over the world as demand for these aircraft continues to grow.”

The newly expanded completions space follows an earlier announcement made in 2023. With an investment exceeding $30 million, the upgraded facility adds full-scale interior outfitting capacity to the site. It complements the maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility, which opened in 2017 to serve the entire Gulfstream fleet with its dedicated hangar and service areas.

Gulfstream’s total footprint at the St. Louis airport now covers 645,013 square feet, or roughly 59,993 square meters. More than 675 employees work on-site, making the location one of the company’s major U.S. hubs.

More jobs and training programs for Gulfstream

As part of this expansion, Gulfstream created 200 new jobs in the region. Many of these roles have already been filled, but hiring continues in areas like avionics, cabinet fabrication, interior installations, and cabinet finishing.

“The St. Louis area is a booming aviation hub filled with skilled and capable talent, and that has played a role in our continued investment in the region,” added Burns.

To further support its workforce needs, Gulfstream has partnered with several local schools and training centers. One example is its high school assistant program run with Cahokia Heights and The Center for Academic and Vocational Excellence (CAVE) in Belleville. Students in the program receive hands-on experience at Gulfstream during their studies, with a pathway to full-time employment after graduation.

The company’s investment in St. Louis is one part of its larger development strategy. Gulfstream has recently opened all-new service centers in Mesa, Arizona, and Fort Worth, Texas. Other enhancements include a state-of-the-art paint hangar in Appleton, Wisconsin, and a larger service center in Savannah.

These additions reflect the company’s focus on preparing for increasing demand by improving both its workforce and facilities. The updates in St. Louis play an important role in supporting Gulfstream’s next-generation aircraft and ensuring that interiors meet the company’s quality standards.

Gulfstream’s continued efforts in recruitment, training, and infrastructure investment aim to meet current and future needs while maintaining service and production quality.
