Delta and Shake Shack Bring Gourmet Burgers to the Skies

Delta has announced an innovative partnership with Shake Shack to offer its iconic cheeseburgers as an in-flight meal option. Beginning December 1, 2024, travelers flying First Class on routes over 900 miles from Boston will have the opportunity to pre-select a Shake Shack Cheeseburger as part of their onboard dining experience. The partnership plans to expand to other U.S. markets throughout 2025.

Delta’s collaboration with Shake Shack reflects a commitment to enhancing customer experiences. Stephanie Laster, Delta’s Managing Director of Onboard Service, shared her enthusiasm: “A delicious cheeseburger is an iconic comfort food – our customers know that which is why burgers are one of the top ordered menu items we offer, and we’re thrilled to elevate the offering with Shake Shack.” She further highlighted the shared values between the two companies, emphasizing Shake Shack’s “people-first culture” and its alignment with Delta’s dedication to service excellence and community support.

The Shake Shack Cheeseburger features a 100% Angus beef patty, topped with cheese, and served on a toasted potato bun. Customers can customize their burgers with toppings such as lettuce, tomato, and the brand’s famous ShackSauce, which are served on the side. Accompanying the burger are chips, a Caesar salad, and a dark chocolate brownie inspired by Shake Shack’s dessert offerings.

Passengers can pre-select the Shake Shack Cheeseburger through the Fly Delta app or an email link starting seven days before their flight. Selections can be made or edited up to 24 hours before departure. This feature ensures a personalized dining experience tailored to customers’ preferences.

Partnership Built on Shared History

Delta’s collaboration with Shake Shack builds upon its longstanding relationship with Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG). Danny Meyer, Founder and Executive Chairman of USHG, also founded Shake Shack. Delta already offers meals from Union Square Events, USHG’s catering division, on select flights departing from JFK. This partnership with Shake Shack marks the latest chapter in Delta’s efforts to redefine in-flight dining.

Coinciding with the Shake Shack collaboration, Delta is refreshing its seasonal wine program and introducing new snacks and meals created in partnership with award-winning chefs. These updates aim to provide customers with elevated dining experiences during their travels, especially as the holiday season approaches.

This initiative not only highlights Delta’s focus on premium customer service but also reinforces its drive to innovate and collaborate with well-loved brands to meet and exceed passenger expectations.
