China Airlines Finalizes Ten A350-1000 Jet Orders

China Airlines has confirmed a firm order for ten Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, finalizing the commitment it announced in December 2024. The new jets will be used for long-haul routes to North America and Europe, boosting the airline’s capacity and enhancing its global reach.

The A350-1000s will strengthen China Airlines’ long-haul services by offering greater range and efficiency. The airline already operates 15 A350-900s, and the new addition will blend seamlessly into its current fleet. The shared design between the two models will make integration and maintenance more efficient.

China Airlines currently operates a diverse fleet of Airbus aircraft. In addition to its 15 A350-900s, the airline flies 15 A321neo and 16 A330s on regional routes across Asia and the Pacific. The addition of the A350-1000s will further strengthen its international network, providing passengers with a more efficient and comfortable travel experience.

Kao Shing-Hwang, Chairman of China Airlines, stated, “Our investment in the A350-1000 supports our international growth strategy and reflects our commitment to improving the travel experience for our passengers. We are confident that the A350-1000, with its superior range, fuel efficiency and comfort, will play a key role in transforming our long-haul operations.”

Improved Efficiency and Sustainability for China Airlines

The Airbus A350-1000 is designed for fuel efficiency and long-distance travel. It can fly up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 kilometers) non-stop, making it ideal for intercontinental routes. The aircraft consumes 25% less fuel compared to older models, producing fewer carbon emissions.

The aircraft is also compatible with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Airbus is aiming to make its fleet fully SAF-capable by 2030.

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business, said, “We welcome China Airlines to our fast-growing family of A350-1000 operators. As an early adopter of the A350-900, China Airlines has played a pioneering role in embracing cutting-edge aviation technology. By choosing the A350-1000 Long Range Leader, the world’s most advanced long haul aircraft, China Airlines continues to elevate its fleet, bringing superior efficiency and comfort to the forefront of long-haul travel.”
