Cathay Pacific is aiming to redefine premium air travel. The airline announced that starting in August 2025, it will be one of the few to provide both 100% seatback in-flight entertainment (IFE) and 100% high-speed in-flight connectivity throughout its entire fleet.
“This moment reflects Cathay Pacific’s long-standing commitment to and leadership in innovation and customer-centric design,” said General Manager Customer Experience Design Guillaume Vivet. “We understand the importance our customers place on having access to top-notch entertainment and reliable connectivity when they travel. Whether for business or leisure, our customers will soon have access to both award-winning entertainment and unparalleled connectivity onboard all of our flights, making their journeys as memorable as their destinations.”
Cathay Pacific has been investing in in-flight digital technology to enhance the passenger experience since 1992, when it first introduced seatback IFE. The airline’s dedication to providing a great experience was further demonstrated this year with the introduction of 4K HDR. This technology offers 4K ultra-high-definition screens, creating a more immersive and enjoyable viewing experience during the flight.

Entertainment and Perks for Passengers
Passengers on Cathay Pacific flights can look forward to a personalized in-flight experience. This includes access to a carefully chosen IFE library with exclusive content. Furthermore, those traveling in First or Business class, as well as Cathay Diamond members, receive complimentary Wi-Fi services on Cathay Pacific’s flights.
Cathay Pacific’s IFE system has earned several prestigious awards. These include a Gold award in the “Excellent Communications Design – Interactive User Experience” category of the German Design Award and a Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design – User Interface Design.
Cathay Pacific will begin providing 100% seatback IFE and high-speed Wi-Fi across its entire fleet starting in August 2025. This move is designed to enhance the passenger experience and set a new standard for premium travel in the air.
