Cathay Pacific reopens The Bridge lounge with new features

Cathay Pacific has reopened The Bridge lounge at Hong Kong International Airport, offering travelers a refreshed and more welcoming space to enjoy before their flights. Located near Departure Gate 35 in Terminal 1, the redesigned lounge blends familiar elements with new features that aim to provide a more personalized and relaxed environment for customers.

The updated lounge reflects Cathay Pacific’s approach to human-centered design. Every detail, from furniture selection to the lighting, has been planned to create a residential feel that prioritizes comfort and ease. General Manager Customer Experience Design Guillaume Vivet explained, “Our goal was to create a space that feels genuinely welcoming — one that reflects our commitment to thoughtful, human-centric design. From the furniture and dining to the scent and music, every detail has been carefully considered to enhance comfort and contribute to a relaxed, refined atmosphere. The result is a space where customers can truly unwind – a retreat designed to enrich their journey and leave a lasting impression with every visit.”

The interior features cherry wood, framed screens, and black granite with travertine, enhanced by curated plants, custom furniture, and original art pieces from the airline’s “Gallery in the Skies” concept. These elements work together to provide a unified and calming setting. To improve the guest experience even further, The Bridge will soon become the first Cathay Pacific lounge to implement biometric check-in, while also maintaining a traditional check-in option.

Expanded culinary offerings and divided lounge zones

The lounge is divided into two sides, each with distinct food and seating options. The left side showcases a rich variety of Chinese dishes. Here, travelers can visit the popular Noodle Bar for signature items like dan dan noodles, wonton soup, and dim sum. The menu continues to evolve with rotating selections, including braised beef shin with cauliflower, biangbiang noodles, and vibrant salads.

This side also introduces The Nook, a new dining area that extends the lounge’s food selection with Chinese small plates and lighter dishes. Guests can enjoy crispy scallion pancakes, steamed rice rolls, and made-to-order bao. A mobile dim sum cart adds to the atmosphere, evoking traditional Hong Kong eateries while serving a functional role in the space.

On the right side, the lounge offers international cuisine and private seating areas for First class passengers and Cathay Diamond members. The Food Hall presents a selection of comfort food prepared fresh in front-of-house ovens. Dishes such as beef bourguignon and vegetable bakes are paired with salads, desserts, and fresh pastries. Guests can also enjoy drinks and cocktails at The Bar, which overlooks the runway and features barista-made coffee and Champagne. A separate relaxation space with custom Solo Chairs completes the premium experience.

Part of a larger renovation plan

The reopening of The Bridge signals the start of Cathay Pacific’s broader plan to enhance its lounges in Hong Kong and other locations. The airline has planned upgrades to The Wing, First lounge, which will close on May 23 and reopen in 2026. Renovations to The Wing, Business will follow. During this period, The Deck will temporarily serve as the First class lounge starting May 21. Guests will also still have access to The Pier, First and The Pier, Business lounges.
