Cathay Pacific Receives Top Honors at TheDesignAir Awards 2024

Cathay Pacific is on its way to reclaiming its status as one of the best airlines in Asia. The airline continues to demonstrate its resilience by enhancing its products and services, ordering new aircraft, and expanding its routes and destinations. Recently, Cathay Pacific was honored with three prestigious awards at TheDesignAir Awards 2024, highlighting its commitment to innovation and exceptional customer experience.

The airline earned the title Design Airline of the Year, Asia, 2024, and received an impressive overall Design Score of 81.9, ranking it among the top six Design Airlines globally.

These accolades highlight the success of Cathay Pacific’s recently launched products. The airline’s new Aria Suite won Best New Business Class, 2024, while the newly upgraded Premium Economy cabin was awarded Best New Premium Economy, 2024. Both products debuted in October 2024 aboard the airline’s retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, offering passengers a reimagined travel experience.

Vivian Lo, General Manager for Customer Experience and Design at Cathay Pacific, expressed gratitude for the recognition. “We at Cathay Pacific are honored to be recognized with these awards from TheDesignAir,” she said. She highlighted the airline’s dedication to delivering superior service across every customer touchpoint.

Lo further emphasized the careful attention given to the new products. “Human-centric design is at the heart of our newly launched Aria Suite Business Class and our all-new Premium Economy cabin products, both of which have been thoughtfully crafted and masterfully designed with our customers’ comfort in mind,” she noted. Lo said these awards motivate the team to continue elevating the passenger experience.

The Aria Suite offers passengers greater privacy and comfort with features like intuitive layouts and luxury finishes. Similarly, the upgraded Premium Economy cabin introduces enhancements aimed at making long-haul travel more enjoyable.

Global Recognition for Innovative Designs

TheDesignAir Founder and Director Jonny Clark praised Cathay Pacific for its innovative approach. “Cathay Pacific’s Aria Suite launch impressed our judges with a residential, passenger-centric approach to design,” Clark said. He acknowledged the attention to detail in both Business Class and Premium Economy, adding that the 777-300ER retrofits bring “a new lease of life to the airline’s fleet.”

TheDesignAir Awards evaluate airlines using a combination of public voting and an expert judging panel. Criteria include ground services, uniforms, seat design, branding, and overall passenger experience. This recognition from TheDesignAir adds to a series of accolades Cathay Pacific has received in 2024. The airline ranked among the top five in the Skytrax World Airline Awards and placed in the top three best premium airlines in the AirlineRatings rankings. Additionally, Skytrax named Cathay Pacific’s Economy Class the best in the world this year.
