Cathay Pacific has partnered with Eaton HK’s Michelin-starred restaurant, Yat Tung Heen, to elevate inflight meals for Premium Economy and Economy class passengers. Starting in January 2025, select flights departing from Hong Kong, including long-haul and regional destinations like Mainland China, Japan, and Thailand, will feature these new dishes, marking Cathay Pacific’s first Michelin-starred collaboration.
Yat Tung Heen, led by renowned Chef Tam Tung, has been a culinary staple in Hong Kong since 1990, specializing in refined Cantonese cuisine that emphasizes the natural essence of ingredients. For this collaboration with Cathay Pacific, the Michelin-starred restaurant has crafted a special menu showcasing traditional yet innovative dishes.
Vivian Lo, Cathay Pacific’s General Manager of Customer Experience and Design, highlighted the importance of this partnership. “Teaming up with Yat Tung Heen, a culinary powerhouse in its own right, allows us to transform our inflight dining experience into something even more memorable for our customers. We are thrilled to bring this elevated experience to our customers in Premium Economy and Economy, especially since it is our first time partnering with a Michelin-starred restaurant for our menus in these cabins. Our hope is to enrich every traveller’s journey by giving them a taste of our home city’s unique and iconic flavours, brought to life by the culinary craftsmanship of Cathay Pacific and Yat Tung Heen.”
Eaton Workshop Managing Director Harvey Thompson echoed the sentiment, noting the partnership celebrates Chef Tam’s dedication to preserving and evolving Cantonese cuisine. “Through this collaboration, we are delighted to offer Cathay Pacific customers a true taste of Hong Kong, showcasing the rich flavours and heritage that define our city. It’s an honour to share Chef Tam’s creations with travellers from around the world, bringing them an authentic dining experience that reflects the essence of our city.”
Exclusive Menu Highlights
Premium Economy passengers will enjoy a selection of sophisticated dishes beginning with a smoked duck breast appetizer accompanied by pickled mustard greens and galangal. For the main course, options include braised beef brisket with chu hou sauce and stir-fried seafood with jade melon and XO sauce. Another highlight is crispy halibut paired with supreme soy sauce and braised bamboo pith, embodying the Michelin-starred dining experience.
Economy class travelers can look forward to equally enticing options. Appetizers include marinated cherry tomatoes with preserved plum, followed by main courses such as baked chicken with ginger and aged mandarin peel, or sweet and sour pork with pineapple and vegetables. For a richer choice, braised duck with taro and pickled plum sauce is also available, maintaining the high standards of Cathay Pacific Michelin-starred quality.
Chef Tam expressed his excitement about the collaboration. “In my years as Head Chef of Yat Tung Heen, we have always strived to deliver a Michelin-worthy dining experience to our guests with the best possible ingredients. To see this legacy extend to the skies with an iconic airline such as Cathay Pacific is very exciting. I look forward to more travelers being able to experience the signature flavours of Yat Tung Heen.”
