Cathay Celebrates Milestone with Hong Kong Airport Expansion

Hong Kong International Airport is preparing to usher in a new era of growth by commissioning its Three-Runway System. Cathay congratulates the airport on this development, marking a transformative phase for the city as an international aviation hub.

Cathay proudly supports this progress, aligning with its commitment to strengthen its home base at Hong Kong Airport. Starting January 2025, the Group’s airlines will fully restore pre-pandemic flight levels, an accomplishment that underscores its recovery. Together, Cathay Pacific and HK Express aim to expand their network, offering flights to 100 global destinations by the end of 2025.

The Cathay Group demonstrates unwavering dedication to Hong Kong’s long-term development. Over the next seven years, the Group will invest more than HK$100 billion. This extensive investment includes orders for over 100 next-generation aircraft, enhancements to cabin interiors and lounges, and advancements in digital and sustainability initiatives, all benefiting Hong Kong Airport.

On behalf of Cathay, I would like to congratulate the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Airport Authority Hong Kong for this significant achievement.”

A Strong Future for Hong Kong

The Three-Runway System aligns perfectly with Cathay’s post-pandemic recovery efforts. Lam highlighted this coincidence, stating, “I am particularly pleased that the successful completion of Cathay’s rebuild coincides with the opening of the Three-Runway System at Hong Kong Airport. We can now truly put the pandemic behind us and firmly focus on the future.”
