Boeing Sees Higher 737 Max Deliveries and New Orders

Boeing increased its 737 Max deliveries last month while securing new orders for over 30 aircraft. The company reported on February 11 that it received 36 new orders in January, including 34 737s and two 777 Freighters. The orders came from an undisclosed customer or customers.

In a report from FlightGlobal, January marked Boeing’s first full production month since a strike late last year disrupted operations. The company delivered 45 aircraft, the highest number since December 2023. Among these were 40 737 Max jets, part of the steady increase in Boeing 737 MAX deliveries, sent to customers such as Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, and leasing companies Air Lease and Jackson Square.

Boeing also delivered seven 737 Max aircraft to Chinese airlines. The company has been working for years to reduce its inventory of undelivered 737 Max jets intended for Chinese carriers. Although the aircraft type was previously grounded, deliveries to China remained paused due to ongoing geopolitical tensions even after restrictions were lifted.

Widebody Deliveries and Order Adjustments

In addition to the 737 Max deliveries, Boeing shipped one 777 Freighter to Ethiopian Airlines and four 787s. The 787 deliveries went to United Airlines, Korean Air, All Nippon Airways, and TAAG Angola Airlines.

Boeing also announced changes in its order records. It recently moved 38 777X orders into a special category known as ASC 606. This accounting adjustment applies to orders that may not be finalized due to factors such as customer financial conditions, geopolitical challenges, or aircraft development delays. Such impacts have yet to be seen on Boeing 737 MAX deliveries.

Backlog and Future Outlook

At the end of January, Boeing had an aircraft backlog of 5,554 units. This included 4,296 orders for the 737, 109 for the 767, 427 for the 777, and 722 for the 787.

With higher production rates and continued demand for the 737 Max, Boeing remains focused on fulfilling orders and maintaining stable Boeing 737 MAX deliveries across different aircraft models.
