ANA Holdings has announced a major fleet expansion, approving an order for 77 aircraft as part of its long-term strategy. This decision, made during the board of directors meeting, aims to support growing passenger demand and enhance operational efficiency.
With expectations of increasing travel demand, particularly between Asia and North America, All Nippon Airways plans to add 18 Boeing 787-9 aircraft powered by GE engines. The expansion aligns with the projected re-expansion of Narita International Airport and is expected to increase available seat kilometers (ASK) for international routes by approximately 1.5 times by the 2030 fiscal year.
For domestic routes, ANA will introduce 20 Embraer E190-E2 aircraft, marking the first time these 100-seat class planes will be used in Japan. The airline has placed 15 confirmed orders, with an option for five more. Featuring the latest engine technology, these aircraft will help reduce fuel consumption and noise emissions while optimizing operating costs. The introduction of these aircraft is planned for the 2028 fiscal year.

In addition to these orders, ANA will acquire 14 more Airbus A321neo aircraft and 12 Boeing 737-8 aircraft, with eight confirmed orders and four options. These additions will help modernize the airline’s existing fleet and support operational efficiency.
Peach Fleet Renewal and Additional Orders
Peach, the group’s low-cost carrier, will also update its fleet by adding 10 Airbus A321neo aircraft and three Airbus A321XLR aircraft. These planes offer improved fuel efficiency and longer flight ranges, supporting the company’s broader growth strategy.
ANA has also finalized options for five Boeing 787-9 aircraft announced on February 25, 2020, and 10 Boeing 737-8 aircraft announced on January 29, 2019.
By 2030, ANA expects to have approximately 320 aircraft in its fleet, including around 120 Boeing 787 series aircraft. Fuel-efficient planes will make up 91% of the total fleet, contributing to environmental efforts.

Strengthening International Presence and Optimizing Domestic Operations
This expansion will allow ANA to enhance its international services while optimizing supply and demand for domestic flights. The company aims to strengthen profitability, maintain high safety standards, and improve customer service while managing capital costs effectively.
“This order will be the catalyst for improving the profitability of domestic flights and the expansion of international flights which is an area of future growth of our airline business,” said Koji Shibata, President and CEO of ANA Holdings. “We will fully utilize this opportunity in order to become an industry-leading airline with sustainable growth.”
With these strategic aircraft acquisitions, ANA is reinforcing its long-term vision for sustainable development, positioning itself for future success in both domestic and international markets.
