American Airlines is gearing up for winter by introducing new routes to popular beach destinations and expanding its services to Hawaii, South America, and Europe. The airline will offer customers more travel options with added flights and extended seasonal services, making it easier to plan winter getaways.
Starting November 8, American Airlines will become the first airline to offer international service from Oklahoma with its new route from Oklahoma City to Cancun, Mexico. This new Saturday-only service will operate on Boeing 737 aircraft, giving travelers direct access to Cancun’s beaches and vibrant culture.
In December, American Airlines will introduce four new routes to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Beginning December 6, the airline will offer Saturday-only flights from Indianapolis, Nashville, Pittsburgh, and Raleigh-Durham. With more than 20 peak-day departures to 11 U.S. destinations from Punta Cana, travelers will have more options for a tropical escape.

According to Brian Znotins, American’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning, the airline aims to provide more travel opportunities to sought-after destinations. “American’s comprehensive global network is designed to give customers more access to the destinations they want to visit,” he said. “Together with new routes, more flights on popular routes and extended seasons to major destinations, American’s schedule is designed for travelers to get away to sun, sand and more next winter.”
Expanding Flights to Hawaii and South America
Just in time for Thanksgiving, American Airlines will resume its service from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Kona, Hawaii, while adding a second daily flight from DFW to Kahului. The airline will also launch daily flights between Chicago and Honolulu on October 26, providing travelers with more options for direct access to Hawaii’s beaches and resorts.
For those heading to South America, American Airlines is boosting its service between Miami and Buenos Aires with up to four daily flights between December and January—the most it has ever offered. Additionally, flights between Dallas-Fort Worth and São Paulo will increase to 10 weekly flights starting December 3, providing 40% more capacity on the route compared to last winter.
Travelers flying to South America can expect premium cabins with lie-flat seats and more than 1,500 complimentary entertainment options. American’s onboard experience will also feature refreshed dining choices, such as chicken with jasmine rice, island surf and turf with truffle yaki sauce, and vegetable curry with seared tofu.

Extended Seasonal Flights to Europe
For travelers seeking European adventures, American Airlines will extend its seasonal services to popular destinations. Flights from Dallas-Fort Worth to Dublin will continue until January 6, while flights from New York to Barcelona will run through December 2. The airline will also extend service from Philadelphia to Athens until November 17.
These extended routes offer more opportunities to experience Europe’s culture and scenery during the off-season, with fewer crowds and unique seasonal experiences.

New Domestic Routes and Ski Destinations
American’s domestic network will grow with new routes launching this fall. Starting October 6, the airline will offer nonstop service from Los Angeles to Des Moines, Iowa, and from Phoenix to Little Rock, Arkansas. These routes will connect travelers to new destinations in the western U.S., Mexico, Australia, and Japan.
For winter sports enthusiasts, American Airlines will introduce new seasonal service between Charlotte, North Carolina, and Aspen, Colorado, beginning December 19. This marks the airline’s first-ever nonstop service to Aspen from Charlotte, providing a direct link to one of the country’s most popular ski destinations.
This winter, American Airlines will operate more than 270 peak daily departures to beach destinations across Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America—more than any other airline. The expanded services and new routes reflect the airline’s commitment to offering more travel options for customers seeking both warm and cold-weather getaways.
