AEGEAN has strengthened its expansion strategy with an additional order of eight A321neo aircraft from Airbus. This move brings its total direct orderbook with the aircraft manufacturer to 60 A320neo family planes, with 37 already delivered.
Dimitris Gerogiannis, AEGEAN’s Chief Executive Officer, highlighted the importance of this expansion in achieving the airline’s goals. “The expansion of our investment plan with the additional order of eight Airbus A321neo aircraft is essential for achieving our growth objectives and further enhancing the competitiveness of our operations,” he said. He also pointed out AEGEAN’s preference for the larger-capacity and extended-range version of the A321neo, which will soon account for two-thirds of the airline’s Airbus fleet.
The A321neo, the largest aircraft in the A320neo family, is designed to enhance efficiency while increasing passenger capacity. With advanced engines and Sharklets, the aircraft delivers more than 20% fuel savings and CO₂ reduction compared to previous single-aisle models. Additionally, its wider cabin offers an improved passenger experience.
Airbus and AEGEAN Strengthen Collaboration
Airbus welcomed AEGEAN’s latest order, reinforcing their long-term relationship. Benoit de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business, shared his thoughts on the partnership. “We are delighted that AEGEAN has once again chosen the fuel-efficient A321neo. This decision underscores AEGEAN’s commitment to operational excellence and enhancing the passenger experience. We value our collaboration with the largest Greek airline and look forward to continuing our partnership, supporting their growth plans within Europe and beyond.”

This latest acquisition supports AEGEAN’s efforts to optimize its operations while expanding its network. The airline continues to invest in modern and fuel-efficient aircraft, ensuring its ability to meet increasing passenger demand.
Focus on Sustainability
As part of its sustainability initiatives, AEGEAN is incorporating aircraft that are compatible with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The A321neo is already capable of operating with up to 50% SAF, and Airbus aims to make its aircraft fully SAF-compatible by 2030. These advancements align with AEGEAN’s strategy to improve fuel efficiency while reducing its environmental impact.
With this latest order, AEGEAN continues to position itself for future growth while reinforcing its commitment to efficiency and sustainability.
